XGas prepares improved reactor for testing; private capital sought to unlock Innovation Norway grant
XGas announces that its improved methane-pyrolysis reactor design is now ready for testing and verification. The updated system represents the next development step for the company, which has been advancing its technology toward commercial readiness. With support granted by Innovation Norway, XGas is now seeking private capital partners to activate and match the public funding.
Technology performance and development trajectory
Methane conversion and efficiency
XGas technology has already demonstrated the ability to convert methane into hydrogen with a high conversion rate and strong overall efficiency. The process also yields nanoCarbon as a solid by-product, offering potential for value creation beyond hydrogen production.
Carbon applications
The nanoCarbon produced through XGas’s process has characteristics relevant for advanced material applications. Carbon is a fundamental component of lithium-ion batteries, and the potential to develop battery-grade graphite is among several pathways being evaluated as the technology continues to mature.
Path forward
XGas will use the upcoming testing phase to further validate performance parameters and prepare for scale-up. The company notes that unlocking Innovation Norway’s support through private co-investment is a key step in accelerating both technical progress and commercial positioning.
